You can choose from two minor versions in English:

30 EC

The 30 ECTS minor is suitable for Bachelor’s students from all academic backgrounds who are interested in the themes and topics of Communication Science. It’s a perfect way to broaden your knowledge.

60 EC

The 60 ECTS minor is especially interesting if you’re not pursuing a social science Bachelor’s degree, as this version also covers research methods. This may improve your chances of being admitted to a Master’s programme in Communication Science.

30 EC - HBO follow-on minor (in Dutch)

This minor in Dutch is specifically designed for Dutch Bachelor of Applied Sciences (HBO) students who want to transfer into the (shortened) Dutch Bachelor’s programme in Communicatiewetenschap in order to pursue a Master’s degree afterward.

Continue your studies with a Master’s programme

These minors do not grant direct admission to the Master’s programmes in Communication Science. If you're interested in one of the Master's programmes in Communication Science, please visit the website for more information on admission requirements and how to apply.

You can increase your chances of admission to a Master’s in Communication Science by following the 60 ECTS minor, especially if you don't follow a Bachelor’s programme in Social Sciences. The 60 ECTS minor includes more focus on research methods, but it still does not guarantee admission to the Master's programmes.

Entry requirements

You can apply for these minors if you are a Bachelor's student and at the moment of registration you have obtained at least 60 EC on university level courses. These minors are also accessible for bachelor of applied sciences students, if at the moment of registration you have obtained 180 EC.

Application and Admission

The registration period for a minor in the academic year 2025-2026 is 1 April - 13 May 2025.
