This LLM programme prepares students for a career in international and transnational criminal law. Graduates are singularly qualified to assume leadership roles at prosecution services, judicial bodies and law firms specialised in transnational crimes and/or mutual legal assistance, academic institutions, NGOs, and government ministries including foreign affairs, justice, and defence. Other prospects include careers at international criminal courts and tribunals including the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Obtaining ‘civiel effect’ in the Netherlands requires both the degrees of Bachelor and Master of Laws completed at a Dutch university (cf. art. 2 Advocatenwet), as well as meeting the requirements of the "Convenant Civiel Effect" of 2016. Please note that the Bachelor’s in Law, and some Law programmes at the Master's level, are taught solely in Dutch. 

If you obtained your Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in law in another European country (EER or Switzerland), you may be eligible for exemption from some courses within the UvA's Bachelor’s in Law.
