Our 1-year MSc in Actuarial Science and Mathematical Finance offers you excellent career prospects. The actuarial and risk management profession is currently one of the highest valued professions on the labour market. In recent years, the specialist modelling skills of the actuary and risk manager are also demanded from companies outside the insurance world.

Our graduates can be found working as an actuary or a risk manager in a wide variety of organisations. A lot of our students find a job even before they graduate. And with good reason: our graduates are highly sought after following an excellent training in actuarial science and mathematical finance. We have a full research programme dedicated to the field. So you will gain insight in the latest theories and techniques, to bring with you to your 1st employer.

How to get the Actuaris AG title (AAG)

At the University of Amsterdam, you can follow the complete pathway to earn the prestigious Actuaris AG (AAG) title. This qualification is granted by the Royal Dutch Actuarial Society and represents a high standard of expertise and professionalism in the actuarial field. After completing your Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Actuarial Science at the UvA, you can enrol in our post-Master’s Actuarial Practice Cycle. This programme is designed to develop your technical expertise and personal skills, preparing you for a successful career as an actuary. After successfully completing the post-Master's programme, you can apply for the AAG title.

Internship and exchange

If you have completed your curriculum, you can do an internship or go on an exchange abroad. For international students, an internship is an excellent opportunity to experience the Dutch labour market.
