The study programme is charaterised by the student’s own research. The programme consists of three trajectories. One is historical and sees books and handwritings framed as material objects within a cultural and historical context. The other is more contemporary, and actively explores the world of books by, for example, researching publishing strategies on the basis of old and modern archival and advertorial material used by book producers. And the third specialisation is Children's books.
The programme partly consists of excursions and there are ample opportunities to receive additional education in foreign countries. To assist students in becoming ‘cultural entrepreneurs’ within in the book profession, the programme offers the possibility of doing an internship at publishers, book dealers, auction houses and libraries.
