Who is not enchanted by the sparkling sounds of Italian, the language of music and opera? However, it is also the everyday language of millions of speakers around the world and an important language in the European context. In this minor, you will learn to read, understand (B2 level), write and speak (B1 level) Italian. Having a command of the Italian language will give you an extra qualification in the Dutch and international labour market.
In the four ‘Italian language proficiency and culture’ modules, you will follow a course of intensive language instruction, in which important aspects of Italian culture are integrated You will learn to read different types of texts and understand spoken language, you will practice speaking and writing about a wide range of topics, and you will study the most important aspects of Italian grammar. In the course ‘The World in Languages’, you will deepen your knowledge of Italian within the broader context of languages and cultures.
Doing a language minor takes a considerable amount of effort. Besides attending the intensive lectures, you will also spend ample time on self-study and on the preparation of tests related to vocabulary, listening skills and grammar, even if you have prior knowledge of the language.
