Until mid-September, the University Quarter will host a pop-up exhibition of the Klimaatmuseum. Co-developed by students and researchers of the UvA Faculty of Humanities, the exhibition aims to make the urgency of the climate crisis palpable to the public. The opening, which was to take place on May 16, has been rescheduled to May 30.

The Klimaatmuseum is a travelling pop-up museum that strives to make the urgency of the climate crisis intelligible through imagination. According to founder Laura van Rutten, alumnus of MA Public History at the UvA, the latter is sorely needed. ‘The fact tat climate change has major consequences has of course been known for longer than today - we know the facts and we know what causes it. Yet we are doing far too little to solve the problem. Apparently, facts are not enough; we only of into action when something affects us. To achieve that, we need imagination and creativity.’

 The pop-up exhibition has been co-created by the Klimaatmuseum her parties, including:

Opening

The Climate Museum will be free to visit at VOX-POP until mid-September. Various programmes around the theme will also be offered. The festive opening was due to take place on Thursday 16 May at VOX-POP, but has been postponed due to the closure of the UvA on 14 and 15 May.

16:00 - 17:00: the exhibition is open to the press (by invitation)
17:00 - 18:00: official opening for partners and other contributors (by invitation)
18:00 - 19:00: opening for the general public (everyone welcome, registration not necessary)
