Full Professor Leadership & Management
Co-director Amsterdam Center for Responsible Leadership (ARLEAD)
My work focuses on the unique relationship between leaders and followers and investigates how leadership can bring out the best in people as well as where leadership can go wrong. I am particularly interested in the link between personality and leadership (Narcissism, Machiavellianism), visionary and ethical leadership, and the dark side of leadership. I employ a variety of methods, including field research (archival, survey) in collaboration with various organizations, experimental research in controlled laboratory settings, and novel data science approaches (machine learning, language analysis) to enrich our understanding of leadership.
