Working in the field accountancy and control is about much more than crunching numbers. You will often be part of a team, requiring you to co-operate and communicate with other people. Our Economics and Business Career Centre offers you plenty of support in exploring your options, developing soft skills and connecting to companies.

Graduates can be found in a wide variety of business and public organisations, including commercial organisations, non-profit organisations, the Financial Markets Authority and the Dutch Central Bank.

  • Start off with the Research Master’s

    Thinking of a career in academia? The best way to prepare yourself is to follow a research Master's programme before you commence with your PhD. The Research Master's programme in Economics, Finance and Econometrics is offered by the Tinbergen Institute. It offers you access to a doctoral programme at the UvA or another university.

    Become a chartered accountant by following the Post-Master Accountancy (PMA) at the Amsterdam Business School. The Accountancy track makes you eligible for admission in this excellent, part-time, post-Master's programme. The language is Dutch, since it deals with Dutch laws and regulations.

The Economics and Business Career Centre (EBCC) offers advice and support for your professional development and preparation for your career. During your Master’s you can reach out to the EBCC for:

During your studies, you will develop professional skills and gain practical experience by solving business-oriented cases and connecting theory to practice. Internship and exchange

If you have completed your curriculum, you can do an internship or go on an exchange abroad. For international students, an internship is an excellent opportunity to experience the Dutch labour market.
