Human Geography

Human Geography focuses on the geographical dimensions of social and environmental challenges in an increasingly globalised world. Geography is distinctive in its focus on places and spaces, landscapes, territories and borders, and spatial connections.

  • Are you interested in how people interact with their environment?
  • Do you want to understand where particularities of places come from and why spatial differences matter?
  • Do you want to contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable world, by studying how economic, political, social, cultural and ecological processes come together in space?

    12

    This course explores sociospatial inequalities in an interconnected world, challenging the assumption of globalisation as a force for convergence. Students examine theories and case studies across spatial scales, from global to individual levels. Topics include political economy, class, race, gender, environmental justice, housing inequality, and contemporary politics.
