Graduates of our programme find employment in policy and research positions in European or international organisations and institutions, in national, regional or local governments, in NGOs, as well as in the media, cultural institutions, and festivals. Examples of our alumni: Policy advisor for the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science; United Nations Officer; Business Analyst at Rabobank; Journalist for a Dutch newspaper; Press-officer of the Holland Festival; Project manager at the academic-cultural center SPUI25 in Amsterdam; staff-member of DutchCulture (a body affiliated with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs that helps cultural institutions to acquire funding from the EU).
Students of our programme are able to proceed to PhD trajectories (in or outside the Netherlands), in the fields of European studies, international relations, cultural studies, history, literature etc. Recent graduates have, for instance, moved on to PhD positions at Cambridge University, University of Pennsylvania, the University of Maastricht and the University of Amsterdam.
I am currently conducting a research programme with PhD candidate Nuri Kurnaz called "Colonial exceptionalism or co-imperialism? Imperial powers and European unity". It starts from the premise that the reformist nature of the European integration process could well be combined with imperial conservatism.Dr. Robin de Bruin
