The UvA offers a variety of pathways including the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ), the Advanced University Teaching Qualification (Advanced UTQ) and the Educational Leadership Programme (Leergang Onderwijskundig Leiderschap, LOL). A Student Counselling Programme is also available for student counsellors.
Lecturers can help one another provide quality teaching by exchanging didactic information and sharing experiences from their day-to-day teaching practice. This kind of knowledge sharing is part of the innovative culture at the UvA.
Educational innovation, professional development and knowledge sharing are supported by the network of UvA Teaching & Learning Centres (TLC).
For all those involved in teaching at the university, the UvA runs an annual Education Day where inspiring ideas and practical case studies are shared and discussed. The participants also look ahead to the future of education.
Lecturers work hard to enthuse and inspire their students, and the UvA is proud of its teaching staff. To celebrate their achievements, each year both students and staff can cast their vote during the Lecturer of the Year competition. The event is organised by the Teaching & Learning Centre, in collaboration with the Central Student Council.
