Dr L. Leydesdorff has been appointed professor of Communication and Innovation in the Dynamics of Science and Technology at the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (FMG) of the University of Amsterdam (UvA).
Dr L. Leydesdorff (1948) has been appointed professor of Communication and Innovation in the Dynamics of Science and Technology at the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (FMG) of the University of Amsterdam (UvA).
Loet Leydesdorff's research focuses on measuring and modelling the transfer of scientific knowledge in scientific journals and patents. Amongst other things, Leydesdorff is known for the Triple Helix model of university-industry-government relationships, which he developed in collaboration with Henry Etzkowitz. Leydesdorff was involved in establishing the UvA's Science Shop (in the 1970s) and natural-social sciences (beta-gamma) propaedeutic year (in the 1990s), and worked at the interfaculty department of Science and Technology Dynamics between 1980 and 2000. His focus is on the quantitativeanalysis of scientific and technological evolutions , such as in citation studies.
Leydesdorff previously served as visiting professor in Lausanne, Paris, Calgary and Beijing. He is honorary fellow of the University of Sussex's Science and Technology Policy Research Unit (SPRU). Leydesdorff has been teaching at the UvA since 1975. He has published articles in numerous scientific journals, including Research Policy, the Journal of the American Society for Information ScienceandTechnology, Scientometrics, and Social Science Information.
