While open access publishing and other practices increase transparency in science, there is also a plethora of misinformation. Who should be responsible for translating science to the public, and how can this be done in a responsible way? Should researchers themselves be involved, and if so, should this be part of the science curricula?

Programme

The speakers will present their experiences and insights into various aspects of science communication. This will be followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A exploring how science communication can be incorporated into various career paths and discuss the effects of the open science movement on the field of science communication.

Jeanette Mostert Science Dissemination Manager at Radboud University
Frederike Schmitz Program Lead for Societal Engagement/Citizen Science at NWO
Anna Aris PhD candidate at the VU Athena Institute
Stan van Pelt Science Journalist and Educator at Radboud University
