There is so much value in all the data that is on the internet, our information systems, private collections, or created by all the sensors surrounding us. For me data science is the quest for insight in all those interesting data sources and to unlock all the values it contains. My research contribution to this exciting field is to find methods that make analysis of such large and heterogeneous datasets possible. We aim at interactive analysis surpassing man and machine intelligence and visualization blending it all in interfaces giving instant insight.

What makes it so attractive and at the same time challenging is that such research can only come about through the collaboration of people from various disciplines each contributing their own part of the puzzle.
