Fascinated by the brain

‘I was always fascinated by the brain, but during my Bachelor’s programme Psychobiology I started to discover its endless complexity. Therefore, continuing with the Master’s programme Neurobiology at the UvA was the most logical step to further deepen my knowledge and to develop my research skills. The programme starts with two courses which complemented my interests best. Besides those courses, the Master’s programme gives you a lot of opportunities to acquire the skills you want and lets you focus on topics of your interest, as there is a lot of freedom choosing extra courses and doing multiple internships.’

Different career paths

‘What I really like about the programme is that during the courses you get to meet a lot of different lecturers, both from inside and outside the UvA. This gives you the chance to get to know more people in the field and their specific career paths. Currently, I am searching for my second internship (third if you include the one from my major Science in Society) and thinking about PhD options. I really appreciate the help and recommendations I get from prof. Paul Lucassen, and also the rest of people involved in the programme seem always be willing to help.’

Amsterdam

‘Other than that, Amsterdam is just an amazing city to live in. It is extremely beautiful and I think everybody will feel right at home when coming here. Since moving here six years ago, I had several jobs (easy to find with all the nice bars around), I was part of two rowing associations and I met a lot of interesting people. All in all, Amsterdam has a lot to offer!’
