In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Theater Collection at Allard Pierson, the Chair of Theatre Studies, in collaboration with Allard Pierson and the TiN Foundation, is organizing a symposium on Thursday, February 27, and Friday, February 28, 2025. The second day will take the form of an experiment and is intended to speculate, from different perspectives and with various parties, about the past and future of theater archives in general and the theater collection at Allard Pierson in particular.

We would like to bring the archive to life on the day of its hundredth anniversary. Therefore, we invite everyone to find a form of dialogue with one or more archival objects. This could involve objects already part of the collection, but also objects—material or virtual—that you would like to see as part of a/the theatre collection. We invite researchers, theater makers, dramaturgs, collectors as well as professionals from the broader cultural field (museums, archives, etc.) to submit proposals for one or more contributions. The primary language is Dutch, but English contributions are also welcome.

We are exploring possibilities to provide appropriate compensation for freelancers.
