Waswa Simon is a PhD researcher working on project LitDem – Strategic Climate Litigation’s Direct and Indirect Consequences for Democracies led by Prof. Dr. C. Eckes. Focusing on four national jurisdictions that is, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Netherlands and two regional European jurisdictions i.e., the European Union (EU) and the European Court of Human rights, the project seeks to establish the missing theoretical framework for the interrelationship between Strategic Climate Litigation (SCL) and democratic processes. Simon will be interrogating the place and role of international and EU legal norms in the "jigsaw puzzle" of SCL and its wider implications for democracy. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University, a postgraduate diploma in legal practice from the Law Development Centre and an LL.M in environmental law from Stockholm University.
Besides the project, Simon is involved in supervising the Amsterdam European Law Clinic under the auspices of the Amsterdam Law Clinics.
