    Prof. dr. ir. P.P.C.C. (Peter-Paul) Verbeek (1970) is rector magnificus en lid van het College van Bestuur van de Universiteit van Amsterdam.

    Daarnaast is Verbeek hoogleraar Filosofie en Ethiek van Wetenschap en Technologie in een Veranderende Wereld aan de UvA. Rode draad in het onderzoek en werk van Peter-Paul Verbeek is de relatie tussen mens en technologie, bekeken vanuit ethisch oogpunt. Voorheen was hij onder andere universiteitshoogleraar Filosofie van Mens en Techniek aan de Universiteit Twente, honorary professor Techno-Anthropology aan de universiteit van Aalborg (Denemarken), voorzitter van de UNESCO World Commission for the Ethics of Science and Technology, vicevoorzitter van het bestuur van het Rathenau Instituut en voorzitter van de Commissie voor de Vrijheid van Wetenschapsbeoefening van de Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen.
