As of September 2010, Anouk joined UvA’s Executive Staff as Director of International Affairs, in this role she is responsible for delivering the University’s International Strategy and leading on the university-wide implementation of the lines of action underpinning this strategy. Key responsibilities include developing sustainable alliances with partner institutions abroad and facilitating UvA’s participation in European and global networks, such as LERU and U21. In the context of UvA’s engagement with EPICUR European University, Anouk acts as Work Package leader for Multilingualism and Inclusive Governance.
Anouk Tso was trained as a Sinologist (Leiden University) and has specialised in international research policy and higher education with a key focus on emerging knowledge economies. As part of her education, she studied and conducted research in Beijing and New York.
From 2003 until 2010, Anouk worked as Head of the China Desk and policy adviser at the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). In this position, she was responsible for strategy development for Sino-Dutch bilateral research collaboration, execution of research programmes and management of the China Desk staff. In addition, during her time at the Academy, Anouk has gained extensive experience in consultation on European research policy and managing EU Framework Programme projects.
