    Curriculum Vitae

    Monique Timmers studeerde in 1994 cum laude af bij de vakgroep Experimentele en Theoretische psychologie van de Rijksuniversiteit Leiden. In 2000 promoveerde zij op het proefschrift Sex differences in Emotion Expression aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, afdeling Psychologie.

    Sinds 2000 werkt zij bij de afdeling Communicatiewetenschap. Haar onderzoek is gericht op media en emoties. Ze is geinteresseerd in de emotionele oorsprong en aantrekkingskracht van media en entertainment.

    Zij verzorgt het masterseminar Enjoying Entertainment. Verder begeleidt ze afstudeerprojecten in de bachelor, geeft ze de vakken Inleiding in de Communicatiewetenschap, Entertainment Communicatie en Communicatie Ethiek en begeleidt ze Mastertheses. Monique Timmers is tevens scriptiecoordinator van de master Entertainment Communicatie. Ze is de stagecoordinator van de afdeling Communicatiewetenschap. Ze was vice voorzitter van de Opleidingscommissie en is nu lid van de Board of Studies van Communicatiewetenschap.
