    Biografie

    Maroesjka van Nieuwenhuijzen studeerde Algemene Taalwetenschap en Ontwikkelingspsychologie aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA). Ze promoveerde in 2004 bij de vakgroep Orthopedagogiek aan de Universiteit Utrecht op het onderzoek ‘Social information processing in children with mild intellectual disabilities’. Van 2005-2010 was ze post doc en docent-onderzoeker bij de vakgroep Ontwikkelingspsychologie aan de UU. Van 2010-2017 was ze universitair docent aan de VU (Orthopedagogiek). Daarnaast was ze van 2009-2011 lector Gehandicaptenzorg en Jeugdzorg aan de Hogeschool Leiden. Ze is sinds 2017 senior onderzoeker en hoofd van het onderzoeksteam bij Expect Jeugd, Expertisecentrum Partners voor Jeugd. Ze heeft als projectleider en co-promotor diverse onderzoeksprojecten opgezet en begeleid, en heeft onderwijservaring in BA en MA opleiding op het gebied van LVB, opvoeding, jeugdzorg en jeugdbescherming, en onderzoeksvaardigheden.

    Haar expertise ligt op het gebied van risico- en beschermende factoren voor gedragsproblematiek van jeugdigen met LVB, opvoeding van ouders met LVB, effectiviteit van gedragsinterventies en diagnostische instrumenten, in jeugdhulpverlening, gehandicaptenzorg, en het gedwongen kader. 

     

    Leerstoel

    De leerstoel  LVB, Ouderschap, en Jeugdbescherming is ingesteld vanwege Partners voor Jeugd, een overkoepelend samenwerkingsverband van organisaties die actief zijn in de (preventieve) jeugdbescherming en jeugdreclassering.

    De leerstoel richt zich op jeugdigen en ouders met een licht verstandelijke beperking (LVB). Naast problemen met leren en het begrijpen van informatie, hebben mensen met een LVB ook een grotere kans op gezondheids-, psychische en financiële problemen, en maken ze in hun jeugd vaker traumatische gebeurtenissen mee. Door deze complexe problematiek is voor ouders met LVB de opvoeding een grote uitdaging en hebben deze gezinnen helaas relatief vaker te maken met langdurige en complexe jeugdhulpverlenings- en jeugdbeschermingstrajecten.

    Professionals hebben de taak om het kind te beschermen en tegelijkertijd de ouder zo goed mogelijk te ondersteunen bij de opvoeding. Om de behoeften van gezinnen van ouders met LVB eerder te herkennen en tijdig de juiste hulp en ondersteuning in te zetten, richt de leerstoel zich ten eerste op risico- en beschermende factoren voor problematische opvoeding en jeugdbeschermingstrajecten. Ten tweede richt de leerstoel zich op preventief ondersteunen, gezien het huidige gebrek aan effectieve preventieve interventies die gezinnen van ouders met LVB integraal en duurzaam ondersteunen. Tot slot richt de leerstoel zich op de effecten van jeugdbeschermingsmaatregelen. Het is nog onvoldoende bekend wat het effect is van ingrijpende maatregelen zoals een onder toezichtstelling, en welke factoren een rol spelen bij de uitkomsten van verschillende trajecten.
