Wiebe Hommes is Assistant Professor of European Law and Legal History and a member of the Amsterdam Centre for European Law and Governance and the Paul Scholten Centre for Jurisprudence. Trained as a lawyer and a historian, his research interests lie in combining the two disciplines, mostly when it comes to (the history of) human rights, European and international law.
He joined ACELG in 2017 as a PhD candidate working on a reception history of the European Convention on Human Rights in the context of the Netherlands. During his PhD he was a visiting researcher at iCourts in Copenhagen and coordinator of the ELMC Moot Court.
He is involved in the teaching of EU law on Bachelor and Master level as well as Legal History and Human Rights and holds a Master's degree in EU Law (LLM) and in history (MA) from the University of Amsterdam.
