Rena Haenel is a PhD candidate at the University of Amsterdam in the Department of European Studies. Her research explores the political economy of strategic climate litigation under EU law as part of a starting grant project on ‘Legal mobilisation in European law’, led by principal investigators Dr. Marta Morvillo and Dr. Stefan Salomon. She is further affiliated with the research project on Strategic Climate Litigation’s Direct and Indirect Consequences for Democracies hosted at the Amsterdam Centre for European Law and Governance led by Prof. Christina Eckes.
Rena holds an LL.M. in International and European Law with a specialization in International Trade and Investment Law from the University of Amsterdam, an M.Sc. in Environment and Resource Management from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and a BA in European Studies from the University of Amsterdam.
