Marta Pinto da Cruz is a PhD fellow in the Criminal Law section of the University of Amsterdam, and a member of the Amsterdam Center for Criminal Justice and the Amsterdam Center for International Law.
As part of the teaching staff for the International Criminal Law LL.M programme, she lectures on several topics ranging from comparative criminal law and procedure, to the procedural law of international criminal courts and tribunals, as well as European Union criminal law.
Marta's doctoral research focuses on the centrality of carceral punishment in international criminal law, and falls within the broader area of international criminal law critique, with the ultimate aim of bolstering the legitimacy and consistency of the international criminal justice project. She works under the co-supervision of prof. dr. Göran Sluiter, dr. Sergey Vasiliev, and dr. Marieke de Hoon.
