    Ik ben Universitair Docent (Assistant Professor) Persuasieve Communicatie bij de Amsterdam School of Communication Research. Ik doe onderzoek naar de invloed van mediagebruik op eetgedrag. Tijdens mijn promotieonderzoek, dat ik in 2021 heb afgerond (Consuming media, consuming food? Reactivity to palatable food cues in television content) heb ik onderzocht voor wie en via welke processen blootstelling aan ongezond voedsel op televisie (bijvoorbeeld in tv commercials en kookprogramma’s) kan leiden tot een verhoogde voedselinname.

    In mijn huidige functie zal ik mij voornamelijk richten op de blootstelling aan en interactie met voedsel(berichten) op sociale media, zoals de effecten van influencer marketing en (mis)informatie over gezond of duurzaam eten. Ook ben ik betrokken bij verschillende projecten op het gebied van digitale media en mentale gezondheid, soms in combinatie met eetgedrag. 

    Ik geef ook onderwijs bij Communicatiewetenschappen. In de bachelor geef ik het vak persuasieve communicatie en een workshop over experimenteel onderzoek. In de master geef ik les in gezondheidscommunicatie. Daarnaast begeleid ik studenten bij het schrijven van hun scriptie en tijdens hun stage.
