    The lectures and literature discussed in the tutorials provide students with a general introduction to anthropology. The lectures and the textbook offer an overview of anthropological themes, concepts and theories. The lectures also serve as an introduction to complementary assigned readings, which will be discussed in the tutorials.

Entry requirements

  • The minor programme has a study load of 30 study credits and is open to students who have successfully completed at least 60 EC of first-year coursework at a university bachelor’s level.
  • Students from universities of applied sciences (HBO) do not have access to this minor.
  • Master students cannot apply for the minor.

Application

  • Apply for the minor using the application form for UvA students in the Course Catalogue (registration is mandatory).
  • Students from other universities must first register as an elective course student in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology (in Studielink).
