Sociologists excel in understanding and tackling societal issues. After graduation, you have a wide range of skills that employers are looking for. Your career path depends partly on the electives you take during your Bachelor's and on your choice of a Master's programme.

Subsequent Master's programmes

If you are looking for more academic depth or broadening after your Bachelor's, follow a Master's;

  • Master's in Sociology

    After graduation you have direct access to UvA's  Master's in Sociology

    Whether it is inequality, migration or diversity, the Master's in Sociology will train you to ask fundamental questions, search for answers and understand how people, social movements and governments address them.

  • Research Master's in Social Sciences

    For students with a strong interest in research, there is the two-year Research Master's in Social Sciences (all Research Master's are subject to a selection procedure). 

    The two-year Research Master's in Social Sciences offers you advanced training in current social science theory and innovative methodologies in a rigorous and multidisciplinary social science research environment.

  • Other Master's

    You also have access to other Master's programmes. If you have taken a Minor, you have access to the Master's programme of that programme, such as Political Sciences or Anthropology (for some Master's programmes, you need to complete a pre-Master's programme)
