Veerle van Wijngaarden is a PhD candidate at the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis and teaches at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Amsterdam. Her PhD project ‘Change What You Want? The Politics of Desire’ investigates the relation between desire and social forms of oppression and exclusion, and examines what conclusions can be derived from putting sexuality and sexual desire in a framework of social and political justice.
She graduated in 2022 from the research master philosophy at the University of Amsterdam (cum laude).
