Guido joined the University of Amsterdam in 2006 and now manages International Student Affairs in global student experience and engagement. He holds an MSc in Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam and completed a year-long professional programme at the School for Training. Inspired by his staff exchange at San Francisco State University he regularly teams up his international colleagues to organize sessions and workshops at EAIE, NAFSA and APAIE conferences. He is the creator of the UvA Exchange Ambassador Programme for which he is awarded with the Orange Carpet Award by EP Nuffic (expertise and service centre for internationalising Dutch education). Specialized in intercultural communication, student leadership, user-generated content, building engaging student communities and developing competencies of exchange students, he is part of the supervisory board of ISN Amsterdam, and he is a member of three multi-university EU funded partnership projects: NICE (the Network for Intercultural Competence to facilitate Entrepreneurship), Digipass (a virtual environment to support students and staff throughout each stage of the mobility Lifecyle) and TICKET (Transnational Intercultural Competences through Knowledge Exchange and Training).
