I work as assistant professor of Domain Specific Learning at the Research Institute of Child Development and Education (RICDE) of the University of Amsterdam. My research interests include first and second language teaching, writing process research, writing instruction in primary, secondary, and higher education, synthesis writing, and domain-specific writing (e.g. in history classes).
In addition, I work as teacher trainer at the Graduate School of Child Development and Education at the University of Amsterdam. My main focus is on supervising students who carry out design-research during their pre-service training and on assisting students who need extra support during the research process. Furthermore, I am also an active member and supervisor of the Educational Research Workplace (Werkplaats Onderwijsonderzoek (WOA-vo/mbo)) in which teachers carry out practice-oriented research or design research studies in their own school contexts (high school and secondary vocational education) related to themes such as metacognition, self-regulated learning and equal opportunities for all students.
Finally, I am one of the mentors of the TLC Education Research Fellows program in which UvA teaching staff are offered the opportunity to carry out research which focuses on their own teaching practices through the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL).
