At the University of Amsterdam, I am affiliated with the Television and Cross-Media team and the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis. I teach BA and MA level courses on topics like media aesthetics; media infrastructures; television and digital culture; media sports; and datafication. My main research areas are Governmentality Studies; Theories of Media Change; Visual and Epistemic Cultures of Sports (see the list of recent publications below; a full list of my publications is accessible on Zotero).
I received my PhD from the University of Bochum, Germany, with a thesis on Digital Television and Governmentality (in German). Currently, I am on the editorial board of Krisis | Journal for Contemporary Philosophy. I favor open access research and aim to avoid commercial distribution platforms as much as possible: If you find it difficult to get access to one of my publications feel free to send me an email.
