The driving force behind my research is the question: “How do people get to be so smart?”. This has led to a focus on two related research themes: how intelligence develops and the creative process. I develop cognitive tasks, tests and games and ask people to solve them –preferably outside of the lab. I use tools such as dynamic testing, eye-tracking, and learning analytics to gain insight into the way they solve the problems. I then develop and test mathematical models of these cognitive (developmental) processes to improve our understanding of developing intelligence and creativity.
