Dr Crelis Rammelt is an Associate Professor (UD1) in environmental geography and development studies at the Department of Geography, Planning and International Development Studies, Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences. He is also teaching at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies, at the UvA Faculty of Science His research and teaching focus on forging links across disciplinary divides—mostly in the areas of political ecology, post-development, degrowth and systems science. Crelis has also been involved in establising the Dutch degrowth plaform Ontgroei and leading an action research and social justice programme with practitioners in Bangladesh.

Received the UNSW University International Postgraduate Award (PhD). Collaborated on various successful grant applications, including for Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), Queensland Department of Community Safety, UNSW International Research Collaboration, Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation, public and private funding partners (including Prince Bernhard Culture Fund, JICA, WaterAid).
