Daphne van der Pas is assistant professor at the Department of Political Science at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). Her research focuses on the interaction between media and politics, political underrepresentation, political leadership, and gender in politics.
Daphne obtained her PhD at the UvA with a dissertation on agenda-setting between media and politics. She then worked as a postdoctoral researcher on the project Pathways to Power: The Political Representation of Citizens of Immigrant Origin in Seven European Democracies. She is currently conducting a veni grant-supported research into the media portrayal of male and female politicians. She has published in the British Journal of Political Science, European Journal of Political Research, Political Communication and Journal of Communication, among others.
