Marialejandra Moreno Mantilla is a Lecturer in International Criminal Law in the Criminal Law section of the University of Amsterdam, and a member of the Amsterdam Center for Criminal Justice and the Amsterdam Center for International Law.
As part of the teaching team of the International and Transnational Criminal Law LL.M programme, Marialejandra has lectured on several topics ranging from jurisdiction and cooperation in criminal matters to transnational criminal law.
Marialejandra has also served as the programme coordinator, the thesis coordinator and the co-coordinator of the Criminal Justice Clinic. She has supervised clinical and research projects developed together with the Colombian Special Jurisdiction for Peace, and is the coach of UvA’s ICC-IBA Moot Court Competition team.
Prior to joining the UvA, Marialejandra served as the Coordinator of the Nuremberg Summer Academy and Project Officer at the International Nuremberg Principles Academy. She previously assisted the Defence at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia and the Chambers of the International Criminal Court. She has extensive practical and capacity-building experience, having worked for civil society organisations, such as Case Matrix Network, Centre for International Law Research and Policy (CILRAP-CMN), in the training and mentoring of legal practitioners to ensure the implementation of international criminal law standards at the domestic level.
Marialejandra studied Law and International Relations at Universidad del Rosario (Colombia) and holds an Advanced Master’s degree in Public International Law, specialising in International Criminal Law from Leiden University (The Netherlands).
