    Annaleena Holopainen is a developmental psychologist and a postdoctoral researcher interested in supporting the wellbeing of children and parents. Her research interests include investigating the impact of perinatal stress (e.g., negative childbirth experience) on parenting and child development, as well as developing ways to enhance children and parents' healthy development (e.g., stress prevention).

    Annaleena has completed her PhD entitled "Becoming a parent: Antecedents and sequelae of a negative childbirth experience" (https://doi.org/10.5463/thesis.706) in June 2024 at the section of Clinical Child and Family Studies at the Vrije University Amsterdam.

    Currently, she is involved, among others, in the following projects:

    • Investigating the effectiveness of a school-based stress prevention program ('Mentorlessen over Stress') for secondary school students
    • Secondary data analysis to investigate the impact of perinatal stress (e.g., anxiety, depression, pregnancy-specific and general stress) on child development (TREASURE)
