In my research, I am interested in the development of metacognition in young adults. Metacognition is the capacity to evaluate and control one's cognitive processes. Good metacognitive abilities are essential for learning efficiently. For example, a student with a good evaluation of her strengths and weaknesses will be better able to adapt her learning in order to obtain optimal results. On the contrary, an overconfident student might end up putting less efforts than actually required for his learning.
I research how metacognition evolves in students over the course of their bachelor, in terms of neural development and behavioural changes. Furthermore investigate how to foster metacognition in such students with help of technology-enchanced learning tools.
