Working Holiday Scheme (WHS)

The Working Holiday Scheme (WHS) is a cultural exchange programme or scheme (WHP or WHS) for young people aged 18 to 30 from participating countries (Argentina, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan, Uruguay).

The main goal of the programme is to become acquainted with Dutch culture and society. During your stay, you will be allowed to follow a short study/course.

Please note that you need to apply for the WHS at the IND yourself but that you will need to inform the UvA’s Immigration Office of your decision to apply for the WHS instead of a student residence permit. This can be done through the immigration invitation you will receive before the start of your study programme.
