After the Office of International Student Affairs (BIS) at the UvA receives the nomination from the partner university, we will send you a link to fill in our online application form and upload all your supporting documentation.

Deadlines

Nomination period and deadline for partner universities

Our partner universities can nominate students in the online nomination portal during the nomination periods, as displayed below in the Overview of dates. We will keep our partners up-to-date prior to and around those dates, and they will receive instructions on how to use our mobility management system. Late nominations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Application period and deadline for students

Nominated students should fill in and upload all the requested materials in the online application portal, as displayed below in Instructions on how to apply.

Notification of acceptance

The acceptance letter will be sent directly to the student's email address and home university coordinator approximately four to six weeks after the UvA application deadline.

Instructions on how to apply

Please read this section carefully before you apply.

Step 1: Nomination by your home university

  • Your home university must have nominated you for exchange to the University of Amsterdam.
  • Your application file will not be reviewed if we do not receive nomination details from your home university.

Step 2: Fill out the application including the required documents through our online portal

During the application period, you will receive an invitation from the UvA for the online application portal. In this portal you can enter all your information, and upload all required documents. For an overview of the required documents, please refer to our fact sheet.

Step 3: Submit before the deadline, and wait for the application outcome

In case we have any questions about your application during this time, we will contact you or the exchange coordinator of your home university.

Step 4: Notification of acceptance

  • The acceptance letter will be sent directly to the student's email address, approximately four to six weeks after the UvA application deadline.
  • Further instructions about the application procedure will be emailed to you afterwards.
