The UvA’s goal is always for protests on campus to be peaceful and for everyone to continue feeling safe. If you unexpectedly find yourself in an unsafe situation, you can call 020 525 2222 for help as quickly as possible.
At the UvA, everyone is free to protest and make their voice heard. That is part of university life. Among the thousands of students and staff who study and work here, there are also people who do not wish to protest, who feel unsafe or unwelcome because of protesters’ actions, or who hold different opinions. This diversity of viewpoints is also part of the university.
The main principle is that the demonstration should proceed peacefully and ensure social and physical safety for everyone on and around the campus. There is no place for (the preparation of or incitement to) intimidation, violence, or vandalism.
Are you attending a class, studying, or working on campus during a protest?
