Robert G. Erdmann is a professor of Physics and Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage at the University of Arizona and also works at the Rijksmuseum. His work focuses on three main areas: he develops new imaging techniques for cultural heritage objects; works extensively on applying imaging science, materials science, and artificial intelligence to gain insights from large multimodal imaging datasets related to cultural heritage; and creates interactive web-based visualisations to convey these insights to art historians, conservators, scientists, and the general public.
