A pro-Palestine protest announced for today on the Roeterseiland campus during the UvA's master's week has been offered an alternative location on campus. The planned protest in the main hall of Building A is not permitted.

The UvA respects and facilitates everyone's right to demonstrate. In the UvA (renewed) house and demonstration rules, the right to demonstrate is clearly described, while at the same time a (socially) safe studying and working climate must be guaranteed.

Security will be an issue

Because of the activities taking place in building ABC, because of the UvA's master's week and because of the planned teaching on campus, a demonstration in the hall will be too disruptive. As large numbers of visitors from outside the university are expected, security will also be an issue. Therefore, the demonstration in the main hall will not be allowed.

Outside at the bridge or hall E

It is important that students, staff and others within the UvA community can make their voices heard and draw attention to social issues. For this reason, however, the protest can take place at another location on campus. The bridge (outside) or hall E are designated for this purpose.
