Based on this input, an independent working group has made eleven recommendations to the Executive Board and the deans. These recommendations will be further developed after the summer.
It is clear that the first positive step has been taken towards an improved framework. 'Thanks to everyone’s efforts, a foundation has been laid for the supplementation of the evaluation framework. The responses from our academic community confirm that thoroughness takes precedence over speed. After the summer, we will resume the process and organise further opportunities for the academic community to provide feedback,' says Rector Magnificus Peter-Paul Verbeek.
Verbeek adds, 'I assume that even once the framework is complete, we will continue to discuss how to apply it with additional criteria in scientific practice. The University of Amsterdam already places significant emphasis on the ethical dimensions of our scientific collaborations, and the current global situation necessitates that we continually scrutinise our frameworks.'
