A group of pro-Palestine protesters occupied and vandalised two classrooms and a toilet block in Building B at the Roeterseiland Campus (REC) on Friday, 21 June. As a result, buildings at the REC were closed for some time on Friday afternoon. By now all locations have reopened according to regular opening hours.

On Friday the doors of buildings A, B and C of the Roeterseilandcampus were closed off, and building E was secured from the canal side. People could still exit, but no longer enter.

The University of Amsterdam regrets that a demonstration is once again causing disruption.

Update Friday 15:50:

Some of the protesters have left the Roeterseiland Campus (REC) buildings and are demonstrating outside. A few protesters are still present in building B. A report of trespassing and vandalism has been filed with the police and officers are at the scene.

Update Friday 17:20:

All students and staff who were still present in buildings A and B/C/D of the Roeterseilandcampus (REC) have been escorted out. These buildings are now closed. Everyone in buildings E, G, H, J/K, L, and V is also being asked to leave, and these buildings are being closed as well.

Update Saturday 10:00am

The protesters were removed from the building by police on Friday evening. The buildings on the Roeterseiland campus have been cleared by the police and are now open according to regular hours again.
