A successful university needs a diverse workforce with a broad array of talents, competences and skills. This places a number of demands on the recruitment and selection of employees. Diversity also has implications for the way that staff treat one another, which is why we cultivate a culture of respect and friendliness.

Working as a PhD researcher

Diversity and inclusion

The UvA makes an effort to recruit and hire people who face greater barriers to employment than most. Different initiatives offer work experience for people with a disability and others with limited access to the labour market.

The UvA is a large organisation with many different faculties and departments. Please first contact the faculty or department you are interested in to ask whether they accept unsolicited applications. The faculty or department concerned can give you a contact name and email address to whom you can direct your application.

Recruitment procedure

The UvA works according the recruitment code of the Dutch Association for HR Professionals (NVP).

If you do not receive a response to your complaint, or if the response is unsatisfactory, you can contact the Dutch Association for Personnel Management & Organisation Development (NVP). In this case, a written complaint is required.
