To develop themselves as an educational leader, during the STQ programme the lecturers work on an individual innovative educational project that contributes to UvA educational quality at the course level, which they applied in practice. In addition, they formulate a personal learning question for their further teacher development. Registration for the STQ programme is only possible on the recommendation of the faculty.
Since the fall of 2022, Gerda is Head of Studies Interdisciplinary at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies (IIS). She is responsible for the interdisciplinary curriculum within Beta-gamma (Natural and Social Sciences).
Nicos is coordinator of Academic Skills in the Bachelor of Mathematics programme. In his STQ project, he has worked on improving teaching and the effective onboarding of new lecturers within the Bachelor of Mathematics programme: "How can I ensure that new colleagues are well prepared and confident in front of the classroom?"
Tabitha is lecturer of physics practicals at UvA and VU. Especially in the COVID years she has been experimenting with a blended form of practicals, by teaching half of the practicums online, while being flexible in switching the learning objectives (like skills such as insight and an investigative attitude) from the on-site practicums to the practicums via online education.
Thijs is manager of IBED's GIS-Studio (Geographic Information System) and used to teach geography at several high schools. He provides GIS practicals, supports students in the field of GIS and Remote Sensing and develops teaching methods.
As a Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Collective Decision Making at the ILLC, Ulle regularly teaches courses on Computational Social Choice and Game Theory for the MSc Logic and MSc Artificial Intelligence programmes, and in the past he also taught a course on Problem Solving and Search for the first-year students in the BSc Artificial Intelligence programme. He makes a point of making all of the teaching materials he developed over the years openly available to everyone who might be interested.
Zhiming is Programme director of the Bachelor Computer Science. His STQ project was on the subject of the learning trajectories in his Bachelor programme, including a visualisation tool that allows for the interactive exploration of the learning goals in the programme: “
The STQ program builds on the knowledge and skills of the BTQ. At the Faculty of Science, all 47 candidates of the academic year 2023-2024 received their BTQ diploma during a festive ceremony in June 2024.
