Research and society oriented education
In addition to well-educated professionals, the world also needs innovative solutions to the challenges facing society. Teaching at the UvA takes place at the intersection of science, research and society,
Our teaching has strong ties to industry practice and the labour market. One example is the experiential learning offered through the Amsterdam Law Firm.
Multiple perspectives
Many social and academic questions can only be answered by looking beyond the boundaries of one’s own discipline. The UvA encourages students to do so, by offering a variety of interdisciplinary electives, minors and programmes.
A research-oriented attitude
Teaching at the UvA is research-intensive, which means that knowledge generated through research is quickly transferred to the classroom. Students also learn how to conduct their own research, promoting an inquisitive attitude. After their studies, students can continue to apply their research skills outside the academic context.
