• The UvA is ranked among the top 5 best universities in Europe in the US News rankings of Best Global Universities 2024-2025, ranks 1^st in the Netherlands and 33rd worldwide.

• The UvA is ranked 55th in the 2025 QS World University Rankings. The UvA is one of two Dutch universities in the top 100. 
• The QS World University Rankings are compiled based on six criteria: academic reputation (40%), employer reputation (10%), citations per faculty (20%), student to faculty ration (20%), international faculty (5%) and international students (5%).

QS World Rankings by Subject

• In the 2024 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject the UvA was listed as number one in the world for Communication Science and Media Studies for the 7^th year in a row.
• Dentistry (a joint UvA-VU programme) is ranked 2^nd globally.
• UvA also ranks top 20 in Psychology, Geography, Sociology, Social Policy & Administration and Library & Information Management.
