Every year on 4 May, we lay a wreath at the Homomonument near the Westerkerk, together with the Pride organisations of Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, Inholland University of Applied Sciences, and ROC Amsterdam. At this moment, we remember all the LGBTQIA+ people who were persecuted for who they were.
Throughout the year, we organise substantive events that make LGBTQIA+ topics accessible to a wide audience from various perspectives.
Together with other educational institutions in Amsterdam, we organise a boat for the Canal Parade to show that at UvA, you can be who you are. We want to celebrate our staff and students with this initiative. Before the boat trip, we participate in the Pride Walk to show that Pride is a protest and that the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community are still not adequately protected.
Would you like to join an event or a social gathering? Are you a member of a student organisation, network, or a policy officer who wants to help make UvA more diverse, inclusive, and equal? Contact us at pride@uva.nl and follow us on Instagram.
We also send out a newsletter about four times a year. Would you like to receive it? Send us an email and we'll add you to the list!
