Jan de Boer is professor of theoretical physics at the UvA's Institute of Physics. He obtained his PhD from Utrecht University in 1993 and subsequently worked as a postdoc in the United States. Following this period, he returned to the Netherlands and has been working at the University of Amsterdam ever since. He has been involved in various broad research initiatives such as GRAPPA, Delta ITP and DIEP.
Jan de Boer also serves as member of the Executive Board of the Dutch Research Council (NWO) and as chair of NWO’s Science domain.
